Berean Baptist Church of Prince Georges County, Maryland held the first worship service on Sunday, April 11, 1982, at John Hanson Elementary School in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

The emphasis of the ministry was to witness, preach, and teach the Word of God and to encourage believers to read and study the Bible. The collective vision was to be a church that emphasized the Word Ministry, witnessing for Christ, and spirit-filled, orderly Christian living.

Today, the mission and vision of Berean Baptist Church remains, unchanged. Berean continues emphasizing the Word Ministry to nurture Christian growth and promote Spirit-filled Christian living and discipleship through worship, Bible instruction, fellowship, and evangelism activities.

This mission is achieved primarily by preaching the gospel, prayer and intercession, Bible studies, training, outreach, and evangelism programs. Through national, state, and local ministries and partnerships, Berean is fulfilling the Great Commission to make disciples and impact lives at home and throughout the world.
